The UMLSCC is a contest for MLS teams in which the Champion must defend the title every game. This is a fun-fan friendly way to raise interest in MLS games. The UMLSCC started when the San Jose Clash defeated DC United 1-0 in the first ever MLS game 1996. Since then the title has changed 155 times in 412 games. The current UMLSCC are Los Angeles. This is LA's 14th title.

Dynamo defeat DC

After a second weather delay DC and Houston squared off on Wednesday. Only to have a delay of "lights out" for almost 3 hours. Also, again there was a heavy downpour. Seriously, this game should have again been postponed and replayed.

Ok, to the game. A road team won for the first time in this series. Houston defeated DC 2-0 on goals by the Brian's Mullan and Ching. Mullan in the 20th and Ching in the 79th -- the goals coming about 4 hours apart :)

This is only the 4th title change this season and all but KC have held the title for at least 3 games. KC immediately lost to Toronto.

Houston, the first West team to hold the title this season, will defend at home against Columbus on August 2nd. Columbus is 1-2-0 on the road against Houston/San Jose. The Crew are 6-4-2 on the road as a challenger while Houston are 4-9-7 as the home champion.
