The UMLSCC is a contest for MLS teams in which the Champion must defend the title every game. This is a fun-fan friendly way to raise interest in MLS games. The UMLSCC started when the San Jose Clash defeated DC United 1-0 in the first ever MLS game 1996. Since then the title has changed 155 times in 412 games. The current UMLSCC are Los Angeles. This is LA's 14th title.

Chicago to host United

DC United takes on the team with the most ever UMLSCC wins. The Chicago Fire. Chicago are one of the better teams in the MLS this year. They have the fewest losses, 2, and currently trail New England in the East by 4 points. DC United, though currently the UMLSCC holder, are still on the bottom of the MLS East and lead the league in losses.

Chicago has dominated DC at home. This will be the fifth meeting in Chicago where the Fire are 3-1-0 over DC. Twice Chicago have won the title at home over DC. However it has been 3 years since these two teams met in Chicago. DC does have two wins in the series, the last one was last year.

DC has an over record of 5-9-20 on the road and 5-6-9 as the Champ. Chicago is 28-12-8 at home and 9-5-2 when challenging. The edge has to go to Chicago for this game, but not for historical reasons, but because they are the better team this season.
