The UMLSCC is a contest for MLS teams in which the Champion must defend the title every game. This is a fun-fan friendly way to raise interest in MLS games. The UMLSCC started when the San Jose Clash defeated DC United 1-0 in the first ever MLS game 1996. Since then the title has changed 155 times in 412 games. The current UMLSCC are Los Angeles. This is LA's 14th title.

United pull off comeback win

They played just a few days ago and this game looked like Deja Vu as Danny Dichio scored early again for Toronto. This time DC was able to find the net in the first half. Danny Dichio added a second for TFC in first half injury time. DC recovered for a PK goal and two minutes later a loose ball knocked home by Emilio brought round the comeback. DC won 3-2 at home and won their 11th UMLSCC title. United are formidable when challenging for the title at home(the only time they ever win the title) with an 11-3-3 recored, the best among teams challenging at home.

United will continue their congested schedule against New England on Thursday. DC will be on the road with thier 5-5-9 Champion road record. Interestingly enough, the second best home challenger record belong the New England Revolution. They are 9-4-3 when challenging at home. They are also 3-1-0 at home against United with an overall record of 4-1-1.

It has been 3 years since these two teams met in UMLSCC play. DC United ended New Englands run of 9 games as Champions.

DC United last held the title in 2007, losing it to RSL. New England last in 2006, which was during a 15 game stretch where the UMLSCC holder did not win a single game.
