The UMLSCC is a contest for MLS teams in which the Champion must defend the title every game. This is a fun-fan friendly way to raise interest in MLS games. The UMLSCC started when the San Jose Clash defeated DC United 1-0 in the first ever MLS game 1996. Since then the title has changed 155 times in 412 games. The current UMLSCC are Los Angeles. This is LA's 14th title.

TFC still title holders

Toronto FC and Columbus Crew played to a 0-0 draw. The Reds held on to the title by getting a result at home in their 4th consecutive home match. Toronto still has yet to win a game as the Champion (Miami did the same). The game was also between teams from the top of the MLS East. Interestingly, Columbus is one of the best teams at acquiring a title on the road. They were successful over 50% of the time (a high % for this title).

But TFC came away with the draw and thus held on to the title.

Next up for them are DC United on the 21st. In fact, TFC and DCU play each other back to back with TFC traveling to DC on the 24th. No matter the result Wednesday, the game on Saturday will also be for the title.

Overall TFC are 3-4-3 and DC are 20-15-24(with 10 title reigns). Whether DC is at home or on the road depends on if they are able to take a title from a team. Challenging at hom DC is an amazing 10-3-3 but on the road they are a pitiful 0-3-10. Only Chivas USA and RSL have failed to capture a title on the road but then again both are only a few years old where DC has been around from the beginning.

There have been 50 previous UMLSCC games on Wednesdays. The home teams is 21-12-17. However the Champion has the opposite record: 17-12-21. Home team is 10-9-10.

DC United last held the title in 2007, losing it to Real Salt Lake. This is their first game since then.
