Blanco "Fires" shot to keep title!

After 70 minutes it seemed that RSL may have thier second UMLSCC title after a Chicago Fire own goal. However in the 2nd minute of extra time Fire star Cuauhtemoc Blanco blasted in a shot to the far upper corner from the top of the box to escape Salt Lake City with a 1-1 draw and the UMLSCC title. RSL was the only home team to not win on Saturday.

The Fire have a short week as they will host New England at home on ESPN2's MLS Thursday. Some quick stats: In Chicago the Fire are 1-2-1 against the Revolution. All four previous meetings the title holder has left the match with their hardware. Both teams getting a win and a draw when playing with the title. New England leads the overall series 3-3-2. Only one time has the title changed hands in all 8 matches played between these two teams. The last time these teams played each other in the UMLSCC was July 9th of 2005 and Chicago won 1-0 at home to retain their title.
