Red Card, PK help in Wizards victory

Two minutes into the match Herculez Gomez was taken down in the box by defender Carlos Johnson who was shown a straight red. Claudio Lopez converted the PK and the Wizards went on to win 1-0 over 10 man Red Bull NY. Kansas City pretty much dominated and controlled the match but could not muster any more goals. NY had a few opportunities but the Wizards defense proved too much for them.

Next up for KC are Toronto FC on Sunday. A quick turn around for the Wizards. Toronto played a league game on Wednesday at home so they have a busy week also.

KC and TFC have just one previous meeting. Last year after KC won 1-0 in Chicago to win the title they promptly lost it to TFC 2-0 (@ Toronto). Overall Toronto are 4-4-4 and 3-0-1 as a challenger. Also 2-0-0 when challenging at home. Pretty successful. KC are now 22-21-22 overall and 13-8-8 as champion. On the road they are 6-6-5.

On Sunday the Wizards are 3-2-6 overall and just 2-2-5 on the road. Toronto have a draw and a loss on Sunday. The game against KC will be their first ever at home on Sunday.
