The UMLSCC is a contest for MLS teams in which the Champion must defend the title every game. This is a fun-fan friendly way to raise interest in MLS games. The UMLSCC started when the San Jose Clash defeated DC United 1-0 in the first ever MLS game 1996. Since then the title has changed 155 times in 412 games. The current UMLSCC are Los Angeles. This is LA's 14th title.

Dynamo take out Rapids in Colorado

Houston defeated Colorado 3-1 with Brian Ching scoring two goals in the first 9 minutes.  Actually all four goals were scored in the first 19 minutes.  Colorado saw Connor Casey ejected in the 53rd minute.  The Dynamo have won for only the third time all season on the road.

This is the 16th title for Houston.  Their next opponent is DC United.  Both teams have a very, very busy schedule up coming.  Both are in the CCL.  I'd not be surprised to see the title changing hands soon.

Ok.  This is the first time Houston will be hosting DC United for the UMLSCC.  When Houston were known as San Jose (Clash actually) they only hosted DC one time.  That was the very first MLS game which San Jose won 1-0.

As the home champion Houston are 7-9-7, keeping the title 16 times and only losing it at home 7 times.  However... DC United are bar none the worst roach challenger in UMLSCC history.  This will be DC's 15th road game as a challenger.  They have never won and have achieved only 3 draws, losing the other 11 times.  Technically there are three teams worse; Chivas, RSL and new SJ, but they 0-0-5 combined as road challengers.  DC's 0-3-11 is far more noteworthy for a club with it's history.

This matchup will be next Sunday.
