The UMLSCC is a contest for MLS teams in which the Champion must defend the title every game. This is a fun-fan friendly way to raise interest in MLS games. The UMLSCC started when the San Jose Clash defeated DC United 1-0 in the first ever MLS game 1996. Since then the title has changed 155 times in 412 games. The current UMLSCC are Los Angeles. Red Bulls win to retain title

Jozy Altidore and the NY Red Bulls ended the 15 game streak of the UMLSCC Holder not winning. Altidore fired home a 60th minute goal to put 10 man NY up 1-0 and the Red Bulls held on for the victory. In the 36th minute of the game Clint Mathis earned a straight red for a reckless foul. He also hurt his team's chances in the 10th with a PK miss.

New York and FC Dallas will again face off for the title. Just last week in NY, the Red Bulls trounced Dallas to the tune of 3-0. NY sits atop the East with 7 points and FCD sits atop the West with also 7 points. The one obvious difference being the 3-0 win by NY, but also NY has conceeded no goals all season while the Hoops have given up 7.

As far as the UMLSCC goes, there have been a total of 998 goals scored. This game, which is nationally televised on ESPN, could very well see the 1000th goal - especially at the rate FCD is giving them up.

This will be the 4th time NY has played in Dallas and they have never lost. Overall, NY holds a 4-1-2 advantage over Dallas.

To the future - should the Red Bulls hang on for the win then Real Salt Lake will get it's first UMLSCC game. Should FCD take the title, the will host New England Sunday.
