Dynamo remain Champion after Goodson own goal
FC Dallas were on their way to reclaiming the UMLSCC on a Carlos Ruiz goal in the 19th minute. The lead held up for an hour before Goodson went up to clear a cornerkick but gave Houston thier first goal by heading it into his own net. The final was 1-1 making it the 38th time a UMLSCC game has ended 1-1, still the highest occuring UMLSCC scoreline.
FC Dallas did remain on top of the Western Conference with 15 points, with Houston in second at 13. However, Houston leads the Texas derby with a 1-1-0 record. The Houston franchise also leads the UMLSCC all time match ups with Dallas with a 4-3-1 record.
Houston pushed their overall UMLSCC record to 19-18-24 and 6-10-12 as the Champion.
Houston is home next week where they will play the Chicago Fire. While the Fire are currently in 5th place in the East, Chicago are also 13 time UMLSCC champions and boast the best overall record in UMLSCC games at 39-17-19. Chicago has also never lost when playing against the club FKA San Jose in UMLSCC games. Chicago is 4-2-0. This is the first matchup in the Houston uniform. Chicago is also the only team in UMLSCC to hve more wins than draws and losses when challenging for the UMLSCC at 13-5-6, although they are only 5-2-4 on the road.
Sunday will be the first UMLSCC game for the Fire since losing at Colorado 4-1 on July 23rd last year. For Houston this will be their 5th UMLSCC game this season.
