Houston takes title in Texas Showdown

In the first Texas Ho-Down Houston's De Rosario scored twice to take the UMLSCC title from FC Dallas and also first place in the West. Houston scored 3 times in the first half after 30 minutes were scoreless. FCD did score 2 in 2 minutes to make a game of it Houston scored a 4th and FCD again pulled within a goal but the Dynamo defense were able to hold off Dallas for the final 14 minutes.

This is the 13th title reign for the franchise now known as the Houston Dynamo. They are tied with the Chicago Fire for the most title reigns. Houston is 13-8-12 as a challenger in UMLSCC games and 19-17-24 overall. Dallas continued it's abysmal title defense record as it falls to 3-3-10 as the Champion.

The next game for Houston is an immediate rematch with FC Dallas in Frisco. The 7 day turnaround will be the second installment of the new Texas rivalry. FCD is pretty good as a home challenger with a record of 8-5-5 while Houston(mostly as San Jose) has lost the title in their first defense 5 of the 13 times and is 3-2-7 on the road as the Champion.
