The UMLSCC is a contest for MLS teams in which the Champion must defend the title every game. This is a fun-fan friendly way to raise interest in MLS games. The UMLSCC started when the San Jose Clash defeated DC United 1-0 in the first ever MLS game 1996. Since then the title has changed 155 times in 412 games. The current UMLSCC are Los Angeles. This is LA's 14th title.

Was on Vacation - catch up time!

Ok, I went on vacation before FCD and Houston played... Last time I wrote it was about the fact that Dallas can't seem to figure out how to hang onto the title past the 2nd game. Well. Again they didn't. They lost to Houston 3-1 on the 13th. So we'll go back to waiting for FCD to perform well.

The next week Houston drew Real Salt Lake 1-1. The game saw the 1200th goal scored in UMLSCC play. It was scored by Brian Ching in the 89th minute.

Next Houst went to Los Angeles and lost to the Galaxy 1-0.

So, the LA Galaxy are the current UMLSCC champions. Their next game is at home against New England on Independence Day. Game is on FSC too.

This is the first time since 1996 that LA has host the Revs in a UMLSCC match. LA won that one 1-0 to take the title from New England. Oddly, the teams have only played one other time, also in 1996(earlier than the previous game) and that game ended in a 2-2 draw with LA retaining the title.

So, not many stats to give for these two teams that have only ever played twice. Los Angeles have 39 victories in UMLSCC play, second to Chicago. They have the second most home victories with 21 ... and the second most wins as the Champion at 25. At home they are 12-5-3 as the Champion (also 2nd most wins - all of them 2nd to Chicago). The Revolution are 5-7-13 on the road overall and as a challenger are just 1-5-6. This will be LA's 88th game and New England's 58th game.
